Storia del Parlamento tedesco: una banca dati

La banca dati dei deputati del Parlamento tedesco (Reichstag) contiene 5211 voci biografiche ricavate dagli annali del Parlamento e dai manuali del Reichstag degli anni 1867 – 1938.

Ai dati fondamentali (cognomi normalizzati, data e luogo di nascita, sesso) sono stati aggiunti i dati dei singoli eventi elettorali (partito di appartenenza, cambiamenti di nome, abitazione e sede di attività, circoscrizione elettorale, confessione, professione, notizie biografiche, ritratti.

E’ possibile consultare anche i testi dei singoli interventi che i deputati hanno tenuto presso il Reichstag e il Parlamento.

Manifesti tedeschi di storia contemporanea

La biblioteca regionale del Württemberg, con sede a Stoccarda  (Württembergische Landesbibliothek Stuttgart), ha digitalizzato una parte della sua bella collezione di manifesti.

La raccolta completa comprende circa 30.000 manifesti scritti e illustrati, dai tempi del Kaiser fino all’anno 2005.

In questa banca dati si possono cercare manifesti risalenti alla prima guerra mondiale, alla Repubblica di Weimar, al Terzo Reich e parte della raccolta relativa all’arco temporale 1945 – 1970.

Il punto di forza tematico della raccolta è rappresentato dai manifesti di politica tedesca. Accanto alle affiches illustrate, la collezione contiene anche numerosi manifesti murali a testo pieno: proclami  di ordinanze, leggi, annunci di manifestazioni pubbliche, comunicati di propaganda elettorale ecc.

Degni di evidenza sono i proclami delle autorità militari della Prima guerra mondiale e delle autorità di occupazione della Renania diffusi negli anni 1918/19, come anche le prescrizioni di legge promulgate dagli alleati dopo il 1945.

Una serie di manifesti documenta le manifestazioni politiche della fine della Repubblica di Weimar a Stoccarda.

La banca dati contiene al momento oltre 4500 manifesti, dei quali circa 2500 con illustrazioni.

Riviste tedesche illustrate della Repubblica di Weimar

La Biblioteca dell’Università di Dresda e della Sassonia (SLUB Dresden) ha curato la digitalizzazione di alcune delle riviste più popolari in Gemania negli anni ’20, per un totale di 650 numeri, 75.000 pagine e più di 50.000 illustrazioni disponibili online.

Illustrated magazines from the era of Classic Modernism are a rich and esthetically first-rate source for the history of everyday life, culture, communication, design and photography in the period between the wars.

The SLUB Dresden has for the first time compiled digital reproductions of the most important German-language magazines of the period – with around 650 issues, 75,000 printed pages and more than 50,000 illustrations. These issues are made them available to scholars and readers interested in cultural history. This project was realized in cooperation with communication researcher Professor Dr. Patrick Rössler (University of Erfurt) and with the support of the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft, the Deutschen Nationalbibliothek and Axel Springer AG, the legal successor to the former Ullstein-Presse.

German History in Documents and Images (GHDI)

Si è concluso il progetto GHDI – German History in Documents and Images, avviato nel 2002 dall’Istituto storico germanico di Washington con la collaborazione di molte istituzioni tedesche.

Il portale GHDI raccoglie una selezioni di fonti documentarie sulla storia della Germania dal 1500 al presente. Comprende circa 1.700 testi in lingua originale (con traduzione in lingua inglese) e circa 2.400 fonti iconografiche. Il materiale è suddiviso in dieci aree tematiche, per agevolare attività didattiche e di studio.

German History in Documents and Images (GHDI) is a comprehensive collection of original historical materials documenting German history from the beginning of the early modern period to the present. The project comprises ten sections, each of which addresses a discrete period in Germany’s history. Each section has been compiled by one or two leading scholars and includes:

• an introduction to key developments in Germany’s social, political, and cultural history during the period;
• a selection of primary source documents (in German and English) originating from the period;
• a selection of images originating from or relating to the period;
• a selection of relevant maps.

Each section addresses the following subjects: Government and Administration; Parties and Organizations; Military and War; Economy and Labor; Nature and Environment; Gender, Family, and Generations; Region, City, and Countryside; Religion; Literature, Art, and Music; Elite and Popular Cultures; and Science and Education.

All of the materials can be accessed through keyword and author searches. Advanced options also allow searches to be limited and refined.

Many of the documents included in this project are difficult to locate in print publications, especially outside of Germany. All of the German-language documents included in GHDI are accompanied by contemporary English translations, almost all of which were commissioned for the project. GHDI also offers new access to a range of historically significant visual images, many of which will be unfamiliar to viewers.

La Goethe Universität di Francoforte ha digitalizzato tutti i numeri del quotidiano locale Neueste Zeitung usciti tra il 1931 al 1942: un interessante spaccato della storia della Germania, notizie di cronaca e di politica dalla fine della Repubblica di Weimar alla Seconda guerra mondiale.

Fonti storiche del Medievo tedesco

Geschichtsquellen des deutschen Mittelalters è un repertorio dedicato alle fonti storiche del Medioevo tedesco prodotte tra il 750 e il 1500.

La banca dati si basa sugli 11 volumi del Repertorium Fontium Historiae Medii Aevi (1962-2007). La Bayerischen Akademie der Wissenschaften ha selezionato le notizie relative alle fonti tedesche e le ha indicizzate in un database interrogabile in Rete.

Sono inoltre stati disponibili, come strumenti di corredo, una serie di elenchi di voci (autori, opere, parole chiave, nomi di luoghi, nomi di santi ecc. ) che facilitano il lavoro di ricerca.

ZEFYS: giornali storici tedeschi digitalizzati

ZEFYS – Zeitungsinformationsystem è il progetto di digitalizzazione di giornali e riviste storiche realizzato dalla Staatsbibliothek zu Berlin.

Bibliografia sulla Storia della Germania: die Jahresberichte für deutsche Geschichte

E’ consultabile online il più importante repertorio bibliografico sulla storia della Germania:  die Jahresberichte für deutsche Geschichte.

La banca dati, accessibile gratuitamente, viene aggiornata con cadenza giornaliera. Contiene tutte i riferimenti bibliografici indicizzati dal 1974 ad oggi. Al momento il repertorio contiene circa 516.000 titoli di pubblicazioni (monografie, articoli, bibliografie, edizioni di fonti primarie ecc.)  relative alla storia della Germania [dati aggiornati a dicembre 2011].

The Jahresberichte für deutsche Geschichte list German- and foreign-language academic publications. This is the most comprehensive subject bibliography of its kind. Monographs, edited volumes (including individual contributions), periodical articles, source editions, reference works and bibliographies are registered. If possible, literature that is not distributed via the publication market is also included. Works in neighbouring disciplines as well as the historical ancillary sciences are taken into account if relevant to German history.

Only a limited range of literature pertaining to local history is admitted. In order to obtain a complete bibliography, searchers in these areas are advised to also consult the respective regional bibliographies or the meta-search engine Virtuelle Deutsche Landesbibliographie.

Cataloguing is closely geared to the standard German cataloguing rules for academic libraries (Regeln für die alphabetische Katalogisierung in wissenschaftlichen Bibliotheken, RAK-WB).

I primi volumi del repertorio (vol. 1-14), relativi ai documenti pubblicati tra il 1925 e il 1938, sono stati digitalizzati e sono disponibili sul sito della Berlin-Brandenburgischen Akademie der Wissenschaften.

The Jahresberichte volumes for the years under review 1925 to 1938, which appeared from 1927 to 1940, impressively document the development of German historical scholarship in the Weimar Republic and in Nazi Germany. During this time the Jahresberichte were not a bibliography in the pure form, but also a forum for detailed research reports. The reports and the employed classification reflect the shift from the Weimar Republic to the Nazi dictatorship as well as the reactions of eminent representatives of the discipline. Online publication makes this material available for modern research.

digiPress: giornali storici della Baviera digitalizzati

digiPress è una piattaforma ancora in costruzione (già disponibile in versione beta) che dà la possibilà di consultare tutti i giornali storici digitalizzati dalla Bayerischen Staatsbibliothek, la biblioteca di stato bavarese.

La collezione è costituita da 37 giornali pubblicati in Baviera tra 1807 e il 1955.

Al momento è disponibile accedere alle riproduzioni attraverso due modalità:

• elenco dei titoli delle testate disponibili;
• ricerca per data di pubblicazione.

La versione definitiva consentirà anche la ricerca di singole parole all’interno degli articoli.

Una mappa dell’Impero tedesco del 1893

All’interno della David Rumsey Map Collection segnaliamo la digitalizzazione di una mappa dell’Impero tedesco che risale al 1893. E’ una mappa composta di 674 fogli in sacala 1:100.000. Sono già stati digitalizzati i fogli numerati da 1 a 340 ed è stata messa online una visione d’insieme dei fogli 1-326.

The Karte des Deutschen Reiches 1893 consists of 674 sheets at a scale of 1:100,000. All sheets join together to make a huge, highly detailed and historically significant map of about 1,155 cm x 980 cm (38 ft x 32 ft), covering all of present day Germany and much of present day Poland. The maps show the landscape as it was at the end of the 19th century. We are in the process of scanning all the sheets individually as well as making a very large digital composite image of all 674 sheets joined. At the time of this writing, we have put sheets 1 to 340 online and made a composite image of sheets 1 to 326. The composite image is also placed in Google Earth (requires plug-in), allowing comparison of the historical map with current satellite imagery and other information layers. We expect to complete the project by June 1, 2011. The publication dates of the sheets vary, generally from about 1800 to 1900. For the whole series we use an average date of 1893.
